Class Descriptions
Ballet Core and More: This fun
class combines Ballet, Pilates and Core work to lengthen, tone and
strengthen all the muscle groups of the body with a focus on grace
and alignment.
Begin Dance: A specially choreographed
class for dancers of all levels. Whether you have all the moves
or two left feet, there's something for you in this class. A manageable
cardio workout and loads of fun. Great music! Great dance! Great
fun! Whether you are Ginger Rogers or Roy Rogers, just come and
dance!
Body Sculpt: Sculpt your body
and burn calories with this high energy class. It's designed to
strengthen particular parts of your body using apparatus such as
steps, weights, resistant bands, jump ropes, etc.
Cardio Kick: Get an intense cardiovascular
workout while learning basic kickboxing skills choreographed to
energizing music. A kick-your-ass type of class!
Cardio Funk: A fun, fat burning
class with easy to follow hip-hop moves. Focus on improving your
technique while having fun and getting fit. All ages and levels
welcomed.
Jazzy Dance: Get loose! Get Down!
Move and grove to the upbeat dance and Hip Hop music. For beginners
and advanced. Anyone who enjoys moving and appreciates dance. Learn
new moves and make them your own in a mix of modern Hip Hop and
Jazz style.
Intermediate Tap: Ever think
Dick Van Dyke was cool? Well come get some moves of your own, with
our very own Tap Dancing Joe. Whether you have two left feet, or
danced two feet to the left of some of the Greats, come in and Tap
Morfit: Move it, shake it, dance
it! Learn new hip-hop moves in this energetic and entertaining class
while improving your overall level of fitness.
On the Ball: A 60-minute strengthening
stretch class designed to improve muscle flexibility, strength,
endurance, coordination, balance and spinal stabilization.
Pilates Matwork: Based on exercises
created by Joseph H. Pilates. A non-impact, balanced system of exercise
designed to simultaneously stretch, strengthen, tone and align the
body, while eliminating excess tension. Focus on posture and working
from your center.
Spin: Start pedaling and let go
as your instructor takes you on the aerobic ride of your life. An
exercise class on a specially designed stationary bike; perfect
for all levels of fitness enthusiasts, recreational cyclists or
serious racers. Classes are often accompanied by abdominal or upper
body conditioning and concluded with a light stretch.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: A martial
art class that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting
with the goal of gaining a dominant position on your opponent. Learn
to use joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit.
It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage
and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger
assailant.
YOGA CLASSES:
Anusara Yoga: This class incorporates
specific principles of biochemical alignment encouraging students
to develop body awareness, connect with spiritually inspiring philosophy
while practicing yoga postures. Mixed level for experienced beginners
to advanced practitioners.
Ashtanga Yoga: A sequentially
arranged series of postures that coordinates a continuous flow of
movements and deep breathing. Practiced with precision and strength,
the systemic linking of poses offers a challenging and dynamic approach
to Yoga that cleanses the body, purifies the nervous system, and
enhances a sense of inner well-being.
Begin. Yoga: The perfect class
for new students. This one hour class focuses on teaching students
to breath deeply, to become aware of their bodies on a deeper level
and to learn the techniques and language of yoga. The basic asanas
are taught slowly focusing on developing strength, flexibility,
balance and proper alignment.
Gentle Yoga: A great start to
the weekend. The focus is on developing a deep steady breath to
help unwind and stretch the body after the week. The poses are taught
slowly and with focus on proper alignment, so that the asanas can
be practiced safely and experienced fully.
Int/Adv Yoga: This vigorous class
focuses on developing strength, flexibility, deep breathing and
balance. Asanas are combined into creative flowing sequences that
prepare the body for the practice of advanced poses taught in detail
as a highlight in each class.
Level I & II: A flowing approach
to yoga techniques linking poses and sequences to breath. Classes
are diverse and sequencing will vary from class to class.
